| Over the past three years, Productivity SA’s interventions has protected over 10 000 jobs; and in the next year this figure should exceed 12000, in addition to expanding to create 7 500 new work opportunities. This fulfils government’s aims of Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative of South Africa – ASGISA – tasked with halving unemployment and poverty by 2014. |

| The Social Plan programme is a Department of Labour project, managed by Productivity SAThe aim of the Social Plan is not only to prevent a decline in the country’s employment levels in organisations and sectors which are in distress, but also to create employment in areas affected by job losses. This is achieved through turnaround and redeployment strategies. |

Six years later, the confident Monama has never looked back; instead he is growing from strength to strength.

YESINTU COUNTED AMONGST THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY

Started in 2003 with about 15 master crafters, things have not been a smooth sailing for Yesintu Arts and Crafts, which is now becoming the pride of KwaZulu-Natal. After overcoming so many challenges, the project has developed in many ways through the help of Productivity SA. The Social Plan, a programme of the Department of Labour (project managed by Productivity SA) subsequently established and funded Yesintu together with the Department of Finance and Economic Development in KwaZulu-Natal.
