Productivity Training
TRAINING OF SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FACILITATORS (SDF)
1. Introduction
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has developed a guideline which it trusts will help SETAs to prepare plans to guide training interventions which will result in employment for those trained and Productivity improvements for those who employ them. Productivity Sa aims to train Skills Development Advisors on Productivity in order to enable them to demonstrate an understanding of what Productivity is, measure single and total factor Productivity and assess the causes of current levels of Productivity, and also measure both the qualitative and quantitative factors that influence productivity and establish their influence on profitability.
2. Objective
On completion of the course the delegates will submit practical assignments facilitated by the embedding of Productivity Values. The values include, but are not limited to the following:
- Continuously seeking better ways of doing things
- Efficient and effective resource usage
- Waste reduction and elimination
- Time Management
- Completing tasks correctly first time and all the time.
3. Impact
In delivering the NSDS 3 the SETAs’ face many challenges in order to build relevant sectorial initiatives and come up with appropriate Sector Skill Plans. To effectively execute these challenges it is pertinent that the Skills Development Facilitators are trained in Productivity to be able to address the challenges of Processes and Timelines by using Productivity measures and values of Continuous Improvement and time Management.
The expected outcome of the project will be a pool of SDFs’ who have a Productivity mindset and employ Productivity improvement plans which will assist in achieving their objectives of analyzing the economic performance, labour market and changing skills needs.
